Its the next morning and Gary and I are soon into fish. After a small repast of eggs, sasauges and mugs of hot strong black filter coffee I am ready to take advantage of the improving conditions. Gary vacates the swim to my left and I move in with the wind pushing straight into the swim. The sky begins to darken the temperature rises and the clouds begin to race across the sky. Conditions are perfect! For more information visit www.thecarpcatcher.co.uk

Do you enjoy crappie fishing? These huge sunfish that reside in freshwater grow to about a foot in length, and 1-2 pounds in weight. Crappies exist in two varieties: black and white. If you enjoy eating lean fish, then the crappie is an ideal fish for you! It is particularly tasty when sauted or broiled. If you want to dine on crappies for breakfast, then consider crappie fishing at night. Here are some tips to make your fishing session successful:

Use a headlamp or submersible light. These tools are definitely must-haves for any type of night fishing, including crappie fishing. In particular, another of the effective crappie fishing tips is to consider choosing a light that you affix to the fishing line above whichever bait you are using. This type of light is so effective that the fish will believe that it is daytime!

Look for Shallow Water With a Lot of Cover. Remember that unless you have a special spot in mind, you should look for something very specific. Take some time and look for an area that is near the bank or in the shallows at the dock. Look for places that are no deeper than twenty feet. A dock will let you hang up your light very effectively and it can also help you bring in the plankton, which in turn bring the minnows, which in turn will bring in the crappies that you are looking for. This is an impressively easy way to bring the crappies towards your area and you’ll find that it is very effective as well. Make sure that you don’t underestimate the importance of picking a good spot.

Find a Good Fishing Rod Holder. As everyone knows, you go fishing to bag some great fish, not to lose your rod! Remember that it can take surprisingly little to drag a rod in the water and unless you are very lucky, you won’t get it back. Consider painting the tip of the rod white so that you will know when a crappie is pulling on it.

Take Advantage of an Electronic Depth Finder. When you want to know precisely what is going on underneath you, consider getting an electronic depth finder. A model that is of high quality will tell you what is happening below you and where the crappie are.

Fish Like You Would During the Day. If you have a good headlamp or submersible light, remember that you can just fish for crappie the way that you would during the day. Make sure that you are using a blend of light and dark colored jigs and make sure that you have minnows to use as bait, especially if you see a swarm of them in the water below you. When worst comes to worst, just drop in lines of various depths and see what you can do to to get the crappie that you are looking for; it really is that easy!

Crappie fishing during the day is fun, but crappie fishing at night can be terrific. Use these tips to get a jump on bringing some crappie in for breakfast!

If you’re an avid sports fisherman, a professional fisherman or just someone who enjoys dipping your line in the water and relaxing every so often, then chances are you either know about or have used a spinning fishing reel.

Since they are very easy to use, spinning fishing reels are very popular and can be used for many different types of fishing. They have almost no back lash which saves you time and frustration untangling your line.

There are three different types of spinning reels, the first being ultralight spinning reels, which can handle test lines from 2 to 6 pounds. They can vary in price from $5 to almost $200.

Next you have your light spinning reels, these are probably the most commonly used spinning reels. Used by light tackle anglers, these light spinning reels have the ability to give you a true fish fighting experience as you try to reel it in. These can range in price from $6 to $250 plus.

The third and final variety is the heavy spinning reel and is ideal for big game hunting. These reels can withstand up to fifty pounds and are commonly used for bottom fishing. These can cost from $10 to an astounding $900. If you are looking to fish big fishes, then this one will be the best.

If you are on the look out for spinning reels, the best thing to do is to go to a fishing supply shop and ask the shop assistant questions that will help you make a knowledgeable decision based on what kind of fish you want to catch, what type of waters you will be fishing in, what variety of tackle you have/use, and so on. You can also consider buying a fishing reel online as they can be cheaper than the retail prices. If you spend some time scouting, you will definitely end up getting a spinning fishing reel for a bargain that you can enjoy for a long time to come.

Some of the most popular beaches in Costa Rica are close to the small yet bustling town of Jaco. Two hours away from San Jose, and easily reached by car or comfortable, cheap, ubiquitous buses, Jaco is located on Costa Rica’s central Pacific coast in the northern part of Puntarenas province. This is a party town.

Jaco has long been popular because of its fun, casual and relaxed atmosphere, and many friendly people. More and more tourists from around the world have already learned of this fantastic place and travel to Jaco for its nearby tranquil, beautiful clean beaches and many things to do. And, it is easy to reach by car or comfortable, cheap, ubiquitous buses.

Over the years, many tourists have made this a favorite location for their visits, citing its casual, relaxed, laid back, friendly, party atmosphere. There are lots of great beaches nearby, some of which are very tranquil, all of which are gorgeous. Jaco has boomed over the last half dozen years or so. Where there was once a quiet little road (except at night) road through town, today there are towering high rises and resorts, and lots and lots of bars, restaurants, and shops.

College kids have long traveled to Jaco because of its “party beach” and cheap accommodations. There is great surfing and lots of bars and discos. They are joined by people of every age and background who come here to enjoy the many things to do and see. Today, there are many restaurants, taverns, tourist traps, and nightclubs to choose from. Whatever your budget, from luxury to basic (think hostels without hot water) there’s a place for you—-not to mention a tourist souvenir shop.

Though the beach directly in front of Jaco (Jaco Beach) has been very popular for many years, it is surpassed by nearby beaches (literally just a couple of miles/kilometers away). These beaches have fewer people and are some of the most ecologically pure in all of the world, bearing Blue Flag certifications for cleanliness. In particular, I recommend spectacular Hermosa Beach, just a couple of miles from Jaco. It is pristine and has some of the best surfing on the planet. In fact, in late July professional surfers from more than 35 countries are going to descend upon Hermosa in the days for world surfing championships—and party at night in Jaco.

There are innumerable things to do during your vacation. Go horseback riding along a lovely beach or visit the nearby river with its huge, famous crocodiles. Zipline through the canopy or try sea kayaking or sailing. Visit Arenal Volcano and sit in the hot springs watching the eruptions. Take a real Swiss train to a real Swiss hotel in the mountains of Costa Rica! Learn to surf or take a Spanish class (some language schools offer surfing as well!). Zipline high in the forests or take a balloon ride over the jungles. There are dozens of different activities close-at-hand where youll have fun or find a romantic place.

And, if you like to fish (or want a new experience), take a day charter from Jaco. The waters are often teeming with wonderful fish, from 400 pound marlin to sailfish, schools of tuna, and dozens of other species. Costa Rica offers some of the worlds great off-shore fishing and remember: the worst day of fishing is better than the best day of working.

Christopher Columbus discovered and named Costa Rica 500 years ago, yet every day people discover new wonders while visiting this marvelous country. Though it makes up only about 1/10,000 of the land surface of the planet, there are more species of butterflies here than on the entire continent of Africa combined! One-fifth of every species of plant and animal on earth is here.
